I was joined by a local cat on my tour of Cambridge Botanic Garden, UK, where the Liquidambar orientalis (oriental sweet gum) was losing the last of the autumn colour. This slow-growing, deciduous tree has foliage turning red, yellow and orange in autumn. By the end of summer the Inconspicuous green flowers have formed spiky, spherical fruit that persist into winter
